FAQ

We here at Crossroads Center understand that there are a lot of questions when it comes to state testing like the HSA.  Below are some of the most common questions that people have about the HSA along with the answers.

HSA
The Maryland State Department of Education has made an informative link that describes the importance of the HSA HSA Information.  Students are expected to pass the Biology and Government HSA in order to graduate from high school.

MSA
The Maryland State Assessment (MSA) is a test given to 8th graders in their science class.  Math and English are now tested using the PARCC Assessments.

MAP
According to State College Area School District and NWEA, MAP is a computerized adaptive assessment taken on an individual basis. When taking a MAP assessment, the difficulty of each question is based upon how well a student answers all of the previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions become more difficult. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier. In an optimal test, the student answers approximately half the items correctly and half incorrectly. The final score is an estimate of the student’s achievement level.  For more information about MAP, please click on the link provided: MAP Information

PSAT
The PSAT is a test given to a few 9th graders and to all 10th graders.  This test gives students a chance to prepare for the SAT in 11th and 12th grade as well as give students a scholarship opprotunity if they score well.  For more information collected from College Board, click on the link provided:  PSAT Information

PARCC
PARCC is an assessment given to all students at Crossroads that measures progress of State Standards in English and Mathematics.  Successful completion of PARCC will be a graduation requirement for all 2016-2017 9th graders in the State of Maryland.  For more information, please visit the link provided:  PARCC Information.
